Three Clips and 10 Minutes of Behind-the-Scenes Footage from STRAW DOGS
by Jason Barr Posted: August 31st, 2011 at 7:14 pm
Three clips and approximately ten minutes of behind-the-scenes footage from director Rod Lurie’s Straw Dogs remake are now available online. Starring James Marsden, Kate Bosworth, Alexander Skarsgård, James Woods and Walton Goggins, the film is set in the deep South and centers on screenwriter David (Marsden) and his wife Amy (Bosworth) who return to her small hometown and encounter trouble in the form of her ex-boyfriend Charlie (Skarsgård).
Perhaps due to the widespread acclaim of director Sam Peckinpah’s Oscar-nominated 1971 original starring Dustin Hoffman, the remake has been under fire by many since its inception. That said, I’m willing to give it a chance if for no other reason than I generally like both Marsden and Skarsgård’s work. Check out the clips and behind-the-scenes footage after the jump. Straw Dogs opens on September 16th.
First Look at AMERICAN REUNION With Image and Slideshow
by Adam Chitwood Posted: August 31st, 2011 at 3:53 pm
The fourth installment in the American Pie franchise, American Reunion, is on its way, and today we’ve finally gotten our first look at the pic. A slideshow of sorts has been released that features all of the actors back together again photo booth-style, and it’s strangley affecting in its nostalgia. Matt Nathanson’s cover of “Laid” plays over the images, and if you’ve grown up with the series as I have (we’re not counting those painful direct-to-DVD spinoffs), it brings back some fond adolescent memories from when the films first hit theaters. Cue Mark Hoppus belting “I guess this is growing up.”
Hit the jump to check it out for yourself. The film stars Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge and Shannon Elizabeth. American Reunion opens April 6, 2012.

UK Trailer for MONEYBALL
by Matt Goldberg Posted: August 31st, 2011 at 1:53 pm
Another trailer has landed online for Bennett Miller’s adaptation of Michael Lewis’ Moneyball. While the book reads like a long, engrossing essay on the changing nature of baseball and the influence of sabremetrics, the movie looks like it will seize on the familiar tropes of the sports drama with a worst-to-first team, believing in stuff, and shocking the world with victory. There’s nothing wrong with a well-executed sports movie and hopefully Moneyball can deliver. The UK trailer throws in some new footage but like the previous trailers, it’s all about how Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) took a big chance using statistics to build the Oakland A’s rather than giant salaries.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer. The film also stars Jonah Hill and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Moneyball will play at the Toronto International Film Festival and open nationwide on September 23rd....... http://collider.com/moneyball-uk-trailer/112415/
Casting Call: Olivia Munn Signs on for MAGIC MIKE; Harry Lloyd Joins CLOSER TO THE MOON
by Matt Goldberg Posted: August 31st, 2011
We have a couple of short casting stories to report. First up, Deadline reports that Olivia Munn has joined the cast of Steven Sodebergh’s Magic Mike. Channing Tatum stars in the semi-autobiographical film about his days as a runaway stripper. Aside from continuing the bizarre trend that Tatum should lead any movie let alone be its inspiration, I remain lukewarm on the cast. The flick co-stars Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Riley Keough, Gabriel Iglesias, and Cody Horn. When the best guy in your ensemble is McConaughey, there’s a problem. As for Munn, I feel about her the same way I feel about most of this cast: indifferent.

Trailer for THE DOUBLE Saves You the Trouble of Seeing the Movie
by Matt Goldberg Posted: August 31st, 2011 at 9:30 am
The Double looks like it could have been a solid spy flick. You had Richard Gere and Topher Grace playing government agents trying to track down an assassin code-named Cassius. Nothing genre-shattering but it could be well executed. Well you know those irritating trailers that give away the entire damn plot? This trailer for The Double blows them all away. It gives you a major plot twist that would have been somewhat interesting if not wholly believable within the context of the movie. It takes you deep into the third act of the film. It shows you pretty much everything it can in a desperate big to make you want to see this movie and now any desire I had to see the flick has been extinguished by this trailer. Great job, whoever cut this. ............http://collider.com/the-double-trailer-poster/112390/
