Christian Bale Circling Roles in Spike Lee’s OLDBOY, Darren Aronofsky’s NOAH, Clint Eastwood’s A STAR IS BORN, and More

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: August 24th, 2011

Coming off an Oscar win for The Fighter and currently shooting one of the biggest films of 2012, Christian Bale has a wide variety of projects to choose from as his follow-up to The Dark Knight Rises.  His third (and supposedly final) Batman film wraps shooting this fall and he’s eyeing various high-profile projects as his follow up.  Variety reports that he’s considering Clint Eastwood’s remake of A Star Is Born starring Beyonce Knowles, Michael Mann’s Gold, the villain role in Spike Lee’s remake of Oldboy, Scott Cooper’s Out of the Furnace, and Darren Aronofsky’s Noah.  Bale was supposedly set for Zack Snyder’s The Last Photograph but he is no loner involved with that project.  Variety also doesn’t mention the untitled Terrence Malick film Bale reportedly signed on to last week.
According to Variety, Bale won’t make his decision until The Dark Knight Rises wraps shooting in November nor is he necessarily the front-runner for any of these movies.  It’s also worth noting that all these roles play to Bale’s dramatic side even though he gave audiences a glimpse at his ability to go beyond grim-and-gritty in The Fighter, and it’s easier to get excited about him signing onto a film after that great performance.

Mark Romanek's "Locke and Key" Trailer Leaked Online

Posted: August 25th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

We recently reported that Fox decided not to pick up "Locke and Key" TV series, which is based on Joe Hill's (son of Stephen King) comic book. But now the trailer for the show has leaked online. Check it out below.

"This leaked L/K trailer was made by Fox for advertisers months ago (obviously before they decided not to pick us up)," said Mark Romanek, who directed the pilot episode. "Nobody should make anything of its presence on the net. I don't know who put it out there. But it is something Fox had shown me long ago."

The comic book revolves around three kids who end up watching over a secret, spooky New England mansion filled with mystical doors that transport them to different worlds and give them special powers (like turning into a ghost). The building is also home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all.

"The Invisible Man" Remake is Moving Forward

Posted: August 25th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

LA Times caught up with "The Dark Knight" writer David Goyer, who revealed that he's still working on an "Invisible Man" remake for Universal Pictures.

"It's a period film but it's period like Downey's 'Sherlock Holmes,'" he said. "It's period but it's a reinvention of the character in the sort of way that Stephen Sommers exploded 'The Mummy' into a much bigger kind of mythology. That's kind of what we’ve done with 'The Invisible Man.'"

The character was introduced by HG Wells back in 1897 and then first appeared on screen in 1933 in "The Invisible Man." Goyer added that if the studio can find the right actor, development on the remake will likely become a top priority.

"It's something slowly working its way through the Universal development channels," he explained. "It's still alive. We did some pre-vis tests that they were very happy with. Now we're going through the casting process. If they get the right lead, they'll make it."

My Week With Marilyn Poster: Michelle Williams Stands Out In Full Color

published: 2011-08-24 12:33:30 Author: Katey Rich
As if Michelle Williams done up in full Marilyn Monroe regalia wasn't attention-grabbing enough, the actress and her co-star Eddie Redmayne are splashes of color in a black and white world in the first poster for their new movie My Week With Marilyn. The movie premieres at the New York Film festival next month, and the poster premiered today at Moviefone; you can take a look at it below.
The image is pretty similar to the one that surfaced last week of the same scene, Redmayne's character-- a young man assigned to assistant Monroe during the 1956 shoot of The Prince and the Showgirl-- ushering Williams-as-Monroe through a crowd of onlookers. I wouldn't be surprised if that other image, which goes heavier on the contest between Marilyn in full color and the black and white observers, became another version of this poster, which is simply designed enough that you could really plug in any image from the movie. Given that the cast also includes Judi Dench, Emma Watson and Kenneth Branagh, it wouldn't surprise me to see other versions that emphasize the impressive cast.
