Red Band Trailer for DRIVE Starring Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan
by Brendan Bettinger Posted: July 21st, 2011 at 5:50 pm
FilmDistrict has released the red band trailer for Drive that premiered today at Comic-Con. Matt raved about the trailer in his recap of the panel, and I wholeheartedly agree: a terrific tease for the film. Everyone at Cannes and the LA Film Festival loved it. It will screen again later tonight at Comic-Con, another place where I am not. September 16 is the release date for us common folk. Marking the days…
Ryan Gosling stars as a stunt driver who moonlights as a wheelman for criminals. When he agrees to help the husband of his beautiful neighbor (Carey Mulligan), matters go awry and he must protect the neighbor and her son. Christina Hendricks, Bryan Cranston, Ron Perlman, Oscar Isaac, and Albert Brooks also star in Drive, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn. Trailer for A GOOD OLD FASHIONED ORGY Starring Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte
by Jason Barr Posted: July 21st, 2011 at 3:43 pm
The trailer for writers/directors Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck’s comedy A Good Old Fashioned Orgy is now available online. Starring Jason Sudeikis, Will Forte, Lucy Punch, Leslie Bibb, Lindsay Sloane, Tyler Labine, and Lake Bell, the film tells the story of a 30 year-old man/child (Sudeikis) who decides to throw one last bash at the Hampton residence his parents are on the verge of selling. Judging from the trailer, the pic almost looks like an uninterrupted barrage of partying and general immaturity. In short, I’m looking forward to it. That said, I can’t help but wonder how I can get my hands on one of those “Labor Day Orgy” t-shirts.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer. A Good Old Fashioned Orgy opens to select theaters this September 2nd. http://collider.com/a-good-old-fashioned-orgy-trailer/104030/
Casting Call: Annette Bening to Star Opposite Kristen Wiig in IMOGENE; Toni Trucks Joins HE LOVES ME
by Brendan Bettinger Posted: July 21st, 2011 at 3:30 pm
Kristen Wiig is capitalizing on the surprise success of Bridesmaids to jumpstart a passion project she has pursued for a couple years now. In Imogene, Wiig plays a New York playwright who fakes a suicide attempt to win back her ex-boyfriend. The plan backfires, and she is forced into custody of her gambling-addicted mother. Deadline reports Annette Bening has signed on to play the mother. Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini (The Nanny Diaries) are on board to direct from a script by Michelle Morgan (Middle of Nowhere).
Bening is very likely going to play a part in the Howard Hughes biopic her husband, Warren Beatty, is working on; Andrew Garfield, Alec Baldwin, Shia La Beouf, Jack Nicholson, Evan Rachel Wood, Rooney Mara are also reportedly up for various roles. Currently, Bening is filming He Loves Me, which brings us to our next casting notice after the break.http://collider.com/annette-bening-imogene-toni-trucks-he-loves-me/103932/
Open Road Films Will Release SILENT HOUSE Starring Elizabeth Olsen
by Jason Barr Posted: July 21st, 2011 at 3:16 pm
Open Road Films, the distribution company jointly created by AMC and Regal Entertainment, has teamed up with Liddell Entertainment to release the horror film Silent House. Co-directed by Chris Kentis (Open Water) and Laura Lau, the film stars Elizabeth Olsen as a young woman whose day takes a turn for the worse when she realizes that she is trapped inside of her family’s crumbling lake house. The film, which is reportedly captured with a single camera shot, was penned by Lau and based on Oscar Estevez’s 2010 Uruguayan pic La Casa Muda. The press release makes no mention of when Open Road is planning on rolling out the film which also stars Adam Trese and Eric Sheffer Stevens (Julie & Julia).
For more on Silent House, including quotes regarding Olsen’s performance, find the press release after the jump. Speaking of Olsen, the actress can next be seen in writer/director Sean Durkin’s Martha Marcy May Marlene which will enjoy a limited U.S. theatrical release on October 21st of this year. Both of Olsen’s films premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.http://collider.com/silent-house-open-road-films/104005/
First Image from PROMETHEUS
by Brendan Bettinger Posted: July 21st, 2011 at 12:47 pm
Prometheus probably has the highest ratio of Audience Anticipation to Public Information of any movie in production. It’s a quasi-Alien prequel (hence the anticipation), but the only solid detail we know is Prometheus takes place in outer space. The first image released by Warner Bros. confirms that much. Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, and possibly Ben Foster star. I can’t tell you definitively who is in that space suit, but my bet is on Rapace, the female lead in the movie. We should learn more at Fox Comic-Con panel later today — check back soon for our recap.
Prometheus is scheduled for release on June 8, 2012. See the new image after the jump.http://collider.com/prometheus-image/103937/
