Paul Feig Interested in Directing BRIDGET JONES DIARY 3?
by Matt Goldberg Posted: July 8th, 2011
I’m not sure if we need a third Bridget Jones Diary movie, but if it’s going to happen, I wouldn’t argue against having Bridesmaids director Paul Feig at the helm. Daily Mail reports that Feig is in “early stages of discussions” to direct Bridget Jones Diary 3 because he’s “beyond keen” to make a movie in London. However, the state of the sequel is still fragile because no deals with leads Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth, and Hugh Grant have been made. Further difficulties arise due to scheduling and whether the script is strong enough to lure the actors back.

Author and screenwriter Helen Fielding has centered the third film around Bridget trying to get pregnant but once again torn between the charming-but-unreliable Daniel (Hugh Grant) and the stoic-but-loving Mark (Firth) even though she seems to end up with Mark every time. Are we really doing this love triangle again? Despite the tired story, the sequel could remain stuck in development hell since Feig and Firth have plenty of options since the success of Bridesmaids and The King’s Speech, respectively. http://collider.com/paul-feig-interested-in-directing-bridget-jones-diary-3/101053/

Naomie Harris to Play Moneypenny in BOND 23; Javier Bardem Confirmed to Co-Star
by Matt Goldberg Posted: July 8th, 2011
After a forced delay due to MGM’s financial implosion, the 23rd James Bond film is finally gaining some traction. The Daily Mail reports that Naomie Harris (28 Days Later) is in final negotiations to play Ms. Moneypenny, a character who has been absent from the franchise ever since it was re-launched with Daniel Craig as 007. The Mail also confirms that Javier Bardem will co-star with Craig, Judi Dench, and Ralph Fiennes. Bardem was previously tipped for the villain role while Fiennes is playing a character “of extreme complexity” according to director Sam Mendes.

Hit the jump for my thoughts on Moneypenny returning to the series. James Bond 23 is set to open on November 9, 2012. http://collider.com/bond-23-naomie-harris-javier-bardem/101034/

Naomie Harris is Miss Moneypenny in "James Bond 23," Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardem Confirmed
Posted: July 8th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

A new "James Bond" film is set to go into production in November under the direction of Sam Mendes (Road to Perdition, American Beauty). It will then hit theaters on November 9th, 2012.

And today we learned that Naomie Harris (28 Days Later) is in final negotiations to join the cast as Miss Moneypenny, the assistant to Bond's boss, M (Judi Dench).

Other cast members include Daniel Craig, Dench, Ralph Fiennes, and Javier Bardem as the villain. "I'd be playing Bond's nemesis," Bardem previously confirmed. "But it's not that obvious. Everything is more nuanced. It's very intriguing. They're changing the whole thing, the whole dynamic."

Mark Wahlberg, Jonah Hill An Unlikely Pair For Buddy-Action Pic Good Time Gang
published: 2011-07-08 09:03:12 Author: Sean O'Connell

You expect to hear Mark Wahlberg’s named attached to a buddy-action-comedy premise. His resume is littered with similar tough-guy roles, from The Other Guys and Date Night to the grittier Max Payne or We Own the Night. But when Wahlberg’s rumored partner is Jonah Hill, the project takes on an intriguing twist.

The two actors will team for Good Time Gang, a film that’s being set up through RCR Pictures and penned by Max Landis (son of the legendary John Landis), according to the L.A. Times. Wahlberg and Hill would play “party-happy mercenaries” -- which automatically sounds bizarre -- who agree to a job involving a known terrorist, then find out one of the two men are related to their intended target. The anonymous source who was briefed on the nature of the project says that it is being constructed in the mold of Richard Donner’s Lethal Weapon, with more of an emphasis on the action sequences over the comedy.

On second thought, the casting of Hill might not be as off-the-wall as we initially thought. The Superbad star has been easing into the action genre, writing and starring alongside Channing Tatum and Ice Cube in a 21 Jump Street reboot that just finished shooting. And he appears to be dipping his toe into more adult fare, as suggested by the latest trailer for Bennett Miller’s Moneyball.

I’m less concerned with the casting of Hill as one half of a buddy-action effort than I am with the Good Time Gang team trying to connect their project back to Lethal Weapon, which was a seminal entry in the genre and likely won’t be duplicated. Comparing your script to Shane Black’s masterpiece (yeah, I said it) sets us up for disappointment when it doesn’t live up to the self-generated hype. We can hope Gang becomes Weapon for a new generation, but it has a long way to go before that expectation becomes a reality. http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Mark-Wahlberg-Jonah-Hill-An-Unlikely-Pair-For-Buddy-Action-Pic-Good-Time-Gang-25596.html
