Joe Johnston Says "Jurassic Park 4" is in the Works
Posted: July 18th, 2011 by Staff

Sam Neill recently said that there will probably never be any more "Jurassic Park" installments. Soon after that quote, it was revealed that Steven Spielberg has been discussing story ideas for "Jurassic Park 4" with screenwriter Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend).

Now comes word from director Joe Johnston (Captain America, The Wolfman) that the reason why Sam Neill hasn't heard much about the future of the franchise is because he will likely not be returning for any more films.

"We are in discussions about 'Jurassic Park 4,'" he confirmed. "The most important thing I can tell you is that it starts a new trilogy that will go off in a different direction - a completely different direction that is very exciting, and different from anything we've seen. It starts with the history of the first trilogy, but it spins it off in a completely different direction. That's all I can tell you."

We've heard about this trilogy talk before, but the fact that it's still being discussed means that "Jurassic Park 4" may actually be reality one day. Stay tuned.

Noam Murro Confirmed to Direct "300" Sequel
Posted: July 16th, 2011 by Staff

About two weeks ago, it was reported that Zack Snyder will not be directing the sequel to "300" and that directors Noam Murro (Smart People, Die Hard 5) and Jaume Collet-Serra (Unknown, Orpha, House of Wax) were in talks to replace him.

Now that Collet-Serra has signed on to direct "Akira" for Warner Bros, the studio hired Murro for "300: Battle of Artemisia," which is written by Snyder and Kurt Johnstadt (300) and based on a Frank Miller's graphic novel.

In the new movie, Xerxes (pictured) is a man in search of godhood after the death of his father, battling an Athenian warlord named Themistocles. The story takes place over the course of several years, but the focal point is the battle of Artemisium, which occurred in 480 BC.

Tom Cruise Confirmed to Play Jack Reacher in "One Shot" Thriller
Posted: July 16th, 2011 by Staff

About a month ago, we reported that Paramount Pictures was in negotiations with Tom Cruise to star in "One Shot," a thriller based on the Lee Child book series about former military policeman-turned-drifter Jack Reacher. Christopher McQuarrie ("Valkyrie" writer) was on board to direct from his own script with plans to begin filming in the fall.

Now comes word that the studio has officially signed Cruise to play Reacher, who is described in the books as being 6'5 tall and 250 pounds. The plan is to shoot "One Shot" and give the actor enough time to prepare for "Oblivion" sci-fi film, which begin shooting early next year.

In the books, Reacher drifts around the country, carrying nothing more than a toothbrush, the clothes on his back, his passport and access to his military pension. He finds his way into all kinds of misadventures but usually winds up using his brawn and his brains from years of military experience to solve conspiracies for underdogs.

In "One Shot," Reacher investigates a case in which a lone sniper murders five victims before being captured. Reacher discovers it's more than a simple case.
