Harrison Ford on Returning for "Blade Runner" Sequel
Posted: July 19th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Back in March it was revealed that Alcon Entertainment was securing rights to produce prequels and sequels to the 1982 sci-fi thriller "Blade Runner," which was directed by Ridley Scott and starred Harrison Ford.

At the time, producer Andrew Kosove (Insomnia) wanted to get Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight) to direct a new "Blade Runner" installment. But we never found out if Ford would be reprising his role.

Now, during the press junket for "Cowboys and Aliens," MTV asked the actor that question. "I have no idea at this point," he said. "It's very early on. I know some of the people involved."

Sounds like the story is still being crafted. But the good news is that Ford is in discussions, which means that if he is needed, there is a good chance he'll return.

Sigourney Weaver Wants to Play Ripley in an "Alien" Film Again
Posted: July 19th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Ridley Scott is currently hard at work on "Prometheus," which is a prequel to his "Alien" movie. The film takes place almost 70 years before the original film and will have nothing to do with Ripley (Sigourney Weaver).

Knowing this, Moviefone still asked Weaver if fans will ever get to see her play Ripley again. "I doubt it just because the way the industry is," she said. "Once you're sixty [years old], you're not going to be starring in an action movie. I would have liked to do one last story where we go back to the planet, where Ripley's history is resolved. I do feel like her story is unfinished."

She continued: "If I was really caught up in it, I would find a logical story and try to get [20th Century Fox] behind it, but [Ripley] may just be left circling earth. I could definitely kick that alien's ass again, but just looking at the way the business is..."

Kevin Costner is a Sadistic Slave Owner in Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained"
Posted: July 19th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Kevin Costner has joined the cast of Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained," which stars Jamie Foxx, Leonardo Dicaprio, Samuel L Jackson, Kerry Washington and Christoph Waltz, and is set to begin filming in November.

Django (Foxx) is a slave who is liberated by a German dentist-turned-bounty hunter (Waltz) and taught the tricks of the trade by his mentor. Django's major goal in life is to recover his wife (Washington), and to do it he needs to get past the villainous ranch owner Calvin Candie (DiCaprio), who runs Candyland, a despicable club and plantation in Mississippi where female slaves are exploited as sex objects and males are pitted against each other in death matches. Candie is a slave's worst nightmare, and that is where Django's wife Broomhilda is an abused slave.

Jackson will play Stephen, Candie's valet who keeps the slaves in line. Costner will play Ace Woody, a sadistic co-owner of Candyland who pits slave fighters against one another, and has little qualms about mistreating and even killing the slaves who don't measure up.

"The Jetsons" Movie is Still in Development
Posted: July 19th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

ComingSoon caught up with producer Denise Di Novi to get an update on the live-action "The Jetsons" movie that Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) has been working on and planning to direct.

"I've been developing that for so many years," she said. "We actually just turned a new draft in of that script last week to the studio, so I'm still trying to make it. I still think it would be a hit movie. [Rodriguez] was attached to it and his version was fantastic, but honestly, it wasn't a mainstream studio version."

Di Novi added: "Part of it is that every couple of years, the genre changes. The pressure is on to really make the coolest movies, not the cornball cartoon movies. I'm hoping now we're hitting it at the right time. I've never given up on that movie."

Director Neil Burger Talks "Uncharted" Movie
Posted: July 19th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

At one point, Mark Wahlberg was set to star and David O Russell (The Fighter) was set to direct a big screen version of "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" video game. During several interviews it became clear that Russell didn't know much about the game and ended up dropping the project.

Neil Burger (Limitless) quickly stepped in to replace him and is now speaking about the plan and the possibility of casting fan-favorite Nathan Fillion (Serenity) as the lead.

"Mainly we're beginning from scratch and going back to the video game," he explained. "It's really one of the most cinematic video games, and one that has really developed characters. There's a lot of cool, really intense things that, if they work for the film's story, I want to use them."

He continued: "It's really up to date in its own way. 'The Bourne Identity' isn't your father's Cold War movie and this is a very different kind of treasure hunt movie. It's very real and it has kind of an insane, wild feeling that comes out of the character; Nate being this con man and a bit of a hustler, living by his wits, ballsy and capable of anything."

And regarding Fillion, the helmer said: "I think he's a good actor, [but] there's a lot of really good actors who don't even look like [Nathan Drake] who could play [the role]. Where we are right now is that we're literally starting from scratch on the screenplay, and I think that once we finish it, then we'll go to actors and see who's available and who's right for the parts."
