Kevin Costner in Talks to Join Quentin Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED
by Jason Barr Posted: July 18th, 2011 at 1:17 pm

Kevin Costner is in negotiations to join Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming western Django Unchained. If the deal goes through, Costner will join a cast that already includes Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, and Samuel L. Jackson. Per Deadline, Costner’s role would be that of the evil Ace Woody, the man responsible for training male slaves to fight for the amusement of the white customers of Candyland. For those new to the program, Django Unchained tells the story of an freed slave (Foxx) who is trained by a German bounty hunter (Waltz) so as to return to the plantation and save his wife from its evil owner (DiCaprio). The film is slated to begin production this fall and will open on December 25th, 2012.

As for Costner, in addition to potentially joining Django, the actor will also make a turn as Clark Kent’s Earthly father, Jonathan Kent, in producer Christopher Nolan and director Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. He’s also pulling double duty as a producer/star in The History Channel’s upcoming miniseries Hatfields & McCoys.

Wyatt Russell Goes AWOL with Liam Hemsworth
by Bill Graham Posted: July 18th, 2011 at 12:52 pm

If you are looking for an impressive young cast on an upcoming indie film, I’ve got the flick for you. Director Danny Mooney is developing the Vietnam-era love story AWOL and has already amassed an impressive list of up-and-comers. Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song), Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four), Austin Stowell (Puncture), and Aimee Teegarden (Scream 4) are all set to star in Mooney’s directorial debut. Now, according to Variety, Wyatt Russell will be joining them. Russell, who can be seen in the upcoming Cowboys and Aliens, is also set to appear in Judd Apatow’s upcoming but as-of-yet untitled film.

Based on a true story, AWOL follows Hemsworth as the best friend and comrade-in-arms to Stowell, whose stateside girlfriend (Teegarden) dumps him. Together, they go AWOL and return to their Michigan hometown to win her back. For more on the film and the rest of the cast’s previous and future works, hit the jump.

Teaser Trailer for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES
by Adam Chitwood Posted: July 18th, 2011 at 9:12 am

Judging by the box office, most of you may have seen the first teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises attached to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 this past weekend. But if you haven’t, or if you want to see it again (you do), the trailer has been officially released online. The teaser is made up of footage from Christopher Nolan’s first two entries in the franchise intercut with a tiny bit of new footage, including a couple of shots of Tom Hardy as Bane and a Lieutenant Gordon monologue.

It’s not really much, but I’m all for staying in the dark as long as possible. In essence, this is an announcement teaser letting everyone know that Nolan’s Batman trilogy ends next year, and it’s gonna be intense/bad ass/super cool. In that respect, this teaser trailer is a great success. Hit the jump to watch it yourself. The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20th, 2012.
