Steven Spielberg Working on "Jurassic Park 4"

Posted: June 16th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Director Joe Johnston (Captain America, The Wolfman) has been in talks to direct "Jurassic Park 4" for many years. Sam Neill has already given his opinion that the franchise does not need to continue, but Johnston is still interested.

But now, Steven Spielberg is starting to become serious about the fourth installment. He has even been meeting with screenwriter Mark Protosevich (Thor, I Am Legend) to come up with a story. The two were recently working on an "Oldboy" remake, before the film ran into rights issues.

Looking at the box office numbers for the "Jurassic Park" trilogy, each installment has been performing worse than the last one while the budget has been increasing. The first film grossed $914 million worldwide on a $63 million budget. The sequel grossed $618 million on a $73 million budget. And the third film grossed $368 million on a $93 million budget. Clearly there is still money to be made.

James Mangold to Direct "Wolverine" Sequel

Posted: June 16th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

As Hugh Jackman prepares to star in "Les Miserables" film, 20th Century Fox is making sure that by the time he is done filming, he can jump right into the sequel to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

We recently heard that eight directors were in talks to replace Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan). That list was recently narrowed to three choices, James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma), Gavin O'Connor (Miracle) and Antoine Fuqua (Training Day).

Now comes word that the studio and Jackman have decided that Mangold is the man to take over the franchise. Negotiations are about to start, but those close to Mangold say that he's eager to direct the sequel. The plan is to begin filming in the fall.

First Trailer For Moneyball, Starring Brad Pitt And Jonah Hill

published: 2011-06-15 20:16:13 Author: Eric Eisenberg
UPDATE: A beautiful high-res version has finally gone online at Yahoo!. You can watch it below.

In 2002, Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane decided to use a different strategy when finding players to be a part of his baseball organization. Without the resources of a team in cities like New York or Chicago, Beane decided fill his roster with players that weren't power hitters or all stars, but rather knew how to get on base. It was a move that completely worked against everything the sport had worked with for the last century, and it ended up impacting the game in a major way. In 2003 journalist Michael Lewis wrote a book about it and that book has now become a movie. Check out the trailer below.

Connie Nielsen And Harry Lennix Offered Roles In Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel As Well?

published: 2011-06-15 13:48:09 Author: Eric Eisenberg
That's right, folks. We already have another Superman story for you. Just a few minutes ago it was reported that Russell Crowe is now in talks to play Jor-El, Superman's Kryptonian father in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, but now we have even more. In that report it was said that the production is also looking for a known actress to play Lara, Superman's biological mother. Looks like somebody at Warner Bros. popped a copy of Gladiator into the Blu-ray player this weekend.

The Facebook page "Superman: Man of Steel (2012)" (via Latino Review) has posted what they are saying is a clipping from a copy of Production Weekly that says that offers are currently out to both Connie Nielsen and Harry Lennix for parts in Man of Steel. While Lennix's role is unspecified, it says that Nielsen is up for the part of Lara. Should she accept the role, it would be the second time that she's worked with Crowe, having played Lucilla in Ridley Scott's Gladiator. It should be noted that the Facebook page doesn't appear to be in any way affiliated with the actual production.

When the previous report said that they were looking for a big name actress I assumed that they would be going for someone with A-list status, but you're not going to hear any complaints from me about this. As small as Jor-El's role is, Lara's role is even smaller, so it doesn't really make sense to spend millions on someone who will likely get less than 10 minutes of screen time. So, again, I'll throw it to you: thoughts on Connie Nielsen as Lara? Who do you think Harry Lennix will play? Discuss.

Watch Brad Pitt Bossing Around Jonah Hill In First Clip From The Moneyball Trailer

published: 2011-06-15 09:20:35 Author: Katey Rich
I'll never understand what inspires movie studios to preview new trailers on Entertainment Tonight before releasing them online, but they keep doing it, which means we keep getting our first looks at highly anticipated new movies with insipid anchors talking over them. The latest victim of this is Moneyball, which is a pretty bizarre candidate for this kind of treatment-- a sports drama, based on a book about baseball statistics, about building a better team roster through the power of economics. OK, yes, it stars Brad Pitt, but so did Tree of Life, and it didn't suffer like this.

Check out the short preview below, in which we see Pitt looking like a full-on mid-career Robert Redford as Oakland A's manager Billy Beane, trying to save his team and bossing around economics whiz kid Paul de Podesta, played by Jonah Hill. They'll have the full trailer tonight, which will presumably be online soon after; I'm reserving judgment on this until we've seen anything resembling a full trailer, but I do like what we're seeing so far. It might be a natural weakness for baseball movies, or it might be because director Bennett Miller has managed the impossible task of adapting a book about baseball stats into a watchable movie. We'll find out soon enough; Moneyball is due in theaters September 23.
