by Adam Chitwood Posted: February 9th, 2011It looks like Spidey’s found his next film, and it’s not a big-budget action flick. Andrew Garfield, Jennifer Garner and Marica Gay Harden have been tapped to star in the adaptation of Tawni O’Dell’s bestselling novel Back Roads. Adrian Lyne (Fatal Attraction) will direct the murder-mystery drama that tells the story of a young man (Garfield) who is forced to take care of his three sisters after his mother is sent to prison for murdering their abusive father. Garner will portray a neighbor, with whom Garfield strikes up a romance, while Harden will take on the role of Garfield’s therapist. “Several high-profile young actresses” are apparently being vetted to star as Garfield’s sisters.
It’s promising to see Garfield choose darker, more dramatic material like this in light of his recent shot to super-stardom following his casting as Spider-Man. He was pitch-perfect in Never Let Me Go and stood out in an already stellar cast in The Social Network. Garner more than proved she can handle drama with her turn in Juno and Academy Award-winner Harden is fantastic in just about every role she takes on. Variety reports that Lyne is writing the screenplay alongside O’Dell. Hit the jump for a full synopsis of the novel.
Casting Call: Amanda Seyfried to Star in GONE; ER’s Goran Visnjic Joins THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO

Directed by Heitor Dhalia, the film tells the story of a girl who returns home after the night shift to find her sister’s bed empty. She’s convinced that the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job. Allison Burnett (Untraceable) wrote the screenplay. His character appears in all three books of the trilogy, and Deadline reports that Visnjic has signed on for the two subsequent film adaptations as well. Dragon Tattoo stars Rooney Mara, Daniel Craig, Stellan Skarsgaard, Robin Wright, Christopher Plummer and Joley Richardson. Filming is currently underway, with the film set to be released on December 21st.
by Adam Chitwood Posted: February 9th, 20111000 teenage heads just exploded. Apparently Harry Potter star/college student Emma Watson is the top contender to take on the role of Claudia in Fox 2000’s adaptation of Catherine Fisher’s teen fantasy/sci-fi novel Incarceron. In December, Taylor Lautner was tapped to take on the lead role of seventeen-year-old Finn in the film, who is imprisoned in Incarceron, “a prison so vast that it contains not only cells, but also metal forests, dilapidated cities, and vast wilderness.”
No director is currently attached, but Just Jared reports that John Palermo (X-Men: The Last Stand, Wolverine) is producing. If Watson signs on, Fox will surely want to get this project going as soon as possible. Adam Cooper and Bill Collage (Accepted, the upcoming Tower Heist) will pen the screenplay. Watson has Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 coming out this summer, and My Week With Marilyn hitting theaters sometime this year.
